Children’s Music Studio began in 1997 as a pilot program of Community Music Project, with 3 classes involving 25 young children and their caregivers. Classes are based on the internationally acclaimed Musikgarten curriculum.

The fundamental goals of Children’s Music Studio are to develop musicality in children as early as possible, musical literacy, and the ability to sing an unfamiliar song with accurate tones and rhythms.

We now hold classes year around in the Jamestown area as well as summer music classes at Chautauqua Institution. We have a staff of three certified teachers: Susan Caster, Melanie Gritters, and Gail Grundstrom with over 20 years experience. Our classes are designed for children and their caregivers, including infants, toddlers, and children up to the age of nine. Group keyboard classes are a unique feature of this curriculum. Over 1300 children and adults have participated in the Children’s Music Studio.
